Hayate x Blade Kurogane follows Hayate as she faces an unexpected challenge. When her twin sister Nagi gets injured and can’t attend school, Hayate steps in to take her place. But she soon discovers this isn’t an ordinary school—it’s built around the “Swordswoman League,” where students fight in Duels for Stars alongside their closest partners, called shinyuu. These battles determine status, wealth, and influence within the school.
Hayate’s introduction to this world is anything but smooth. She meets intimidating figures like the Student Council President, Amachi Hitsugi, and her partner Miyamoto Shizuku, as well as the fiery and skilled Mudou Ayana, who fights alone without a shinyuu. At first, Hayate hopes to avoid the duels altogether, but her plans are shattered when she returns home to find the orphanage she cherishes completely destroyed.
