At sixteen, Ryo Narushima was a brilliant student with a promising future, seemingly destined for Tokyo University and a place among society’s elite. But that summer, something inside him snapped. Armed with nothing more than a small knife, he savagely killed both his parents, sparing only his terrified sister, who was left trembling in a corner. This horrifying act marks the beginning of our story.
A side note: After volume 20, the series switched publishers, resetting the chapter numbering. From chapter 61 in volume 26 onward—when the series returned from a long hiatus—the story and art were entirely handled by Tanaka Akio. Though Hashimoto Izou originally wrote the series, his involvement gradually decreased starting with volume 4. Eventually, Tanaka and Hashimoto reached an agreement, allowing *Shamo* to continue.
